Giuliani Changes Story About 9/11
May 31, 2007
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani was tripped
up during a fundraiser yesterday when asked why he
didn’t order firefighters and police out of the World
Trade Center after being warned the towers would
collapse. Rudy responded by saying
"I didn't realize the
towers would collapse" and "No one that I know of had
any idea they would implode. That was a complete
surprise." But during a phone interview with ABC news
anchor Peter Jennings on September 11, 2001, Giuliani
said: “I--I went down to the scene and we set up
headquarters at 75 Barkley Street, which was right
there with the police commissioner, the fire
commissioner, the head of emergency management, and we
were operating out of there when we were told that the
World Trade Center was going to collapse. And it did
collapse before we could actually get out of the
building, so we were trapped in the building for 10,
15 minutes, and finally found an exit and got out,
walked north, and took a lot of people with us."

Memorial Day 2007
May 28, 2007
Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day is
the national day of remembrance for those who have
died in our nation's service. The holiday grew out
of the practice of decorating graves of soldiers
that occurred around the United States during the
time of the Civil War. Many cities and towns
claim to be the birthplace of Memorial Day. The
holiday was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868
by General John Logan, and was first observed on
May 30, 1868, with the decoration of the graves
of veterans, both Union and Confederate, at
Arlington National Cemetery.

Prosecutor: Scooter Libby Should Serve 3 Years
For Obstructing CIA Leak Investigation
May 26, 2007
According to documents filed by Special Prosecutor
Patrick Fitzgerald, Scooter Libby should serve up
to three years in prison for obstructing the
investigation into the leak of the Valerie Plame’s
identity as a CIA agent. Plame’s identity was
leaked by the Vice President’s office in order to
attack the credibility of her husband Joe Wilson,
a former Ambassador sent by the CIA to investigate
claims that
Iraq
had tried to obtain “yellowcake” uranium from
Africa as part of
Iraq’s
suspected nuclear weapons program.
Wilson
concluded the “yellowcake” claim was unsupported
and reported that to the administration. Despite
Wilson’s
report, the “yellowcake” claim made its way into
Bush’s 2003 State of the Union address. When
Wilson
wrote what he knew in a newspaper article, the
Administration tried to discredit him by claiming
Wilson
had been sent on the
Africa
mission by his wife, CIA agent Valerie Plame,
which was not true. Disclosure of Plame’s
identity was potentially a crime, investigated by
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. Libby,
Vice-President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, was
convicted of obstructing the investigation by
lying to investigators.

May 17, 2007

nevertheless had some legs out there. His voting
record and Hillary's are almost identical, I
think, on all the relevant issues.” When asked
about the comment, Obama shot back: "I suppose
that's true if you leave out the fact that she
authorized it, and supported it, and I said it was
a bad idea," said Obama. "That's a fairly major
difference."

Dodd Launches TV Campaign
May 16, 2007
Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd has a new
television ad calling for immediate Congressional
action to stop the Iraq war. The ad features Dodd
discussing his support for “the only responsible
measure in Congress that would take away the
president’s blank check and set a timetable to
bring our troops home.” Dodd claims he is the
only presidential candidate supporting the bill.
"This ad draws a clear distinction between Senator
Dodd and the rest of the Democratic field," said
Dodd campaign manager Sheryl Cohen. "Chris Dodd
understands that half measures aren't going to
change George Bush's course in Iraq, and he's set
himself apart by fighting for a plan that would
use Congressional power to require the President
to safely and responsibly redeploy American troops
and bring an end to the war."

efforts to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq. Former
House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who is still

debate process: "If
anything would convince me to lean away from
